The quality of the judiciary is critically important not just to the legal profession, but to the entire community. The Brazos County Bar Association (BCBA) asked its member attorneys to answer a Judicial Evaluation Questionnaire in 2017, to obtain their opinions of each judge’s performance, and is releasing the results as a service to the public and the judges themselves. This practice will continue in odd-numbered years going forward. In election years beginning in 2018, the BCBA will conduct a Judicial Candidate Qualification Poll to assess its members’ regarding candidates in the primary and general elections. The results of the 2017 Judicial Evaluation Questionnaire are not an endorsement of any judge by the BCBA. Members were asked to provide input on a particular judge only if they had direct personal knowledge of that judge’s performance.
