The Lil’ and Elite Wranglers of College Station, Texas, who recently marched in the 58th Presidential Inaugural Parade, have partnered with the Spirit of Texas Festival to help attendees attempt to break the record for the World’s Largest Texas Two-Step, and they are asking for the public’s participation!
The Spirit of Texas Festival, a 4 day charity event which takes place March 2nd -5th at Wolf Pen Creek in College Station, offers a family-friendly Country Music environment, where several world records hope to be broken. Building on the theme that “Everything is Bigger in Texas,” the Lil’ Wranglers and event chairs hope to not only break the record of the “World’s Largest Texas Two-Step,” but also create the “World’s Largest Chili” and the “World’s Largest Frito Pie,” all of which will be sanctioned by the Guinness Book of World Records.
The group hopes to raise money for 3 local charities: K9s4Cops, the Ronald McDonald House and Mobility Carts of BCS, which creates Personal Energy Transportation for people in 3rd world countries unable to walk on their own.
“We want this Festival to be a true family friendly event,” said Cynthia Caronna, creator and chair of the Spirit of Texas Festival “And the Lil’ and Elite Wranglers of College Station are well known for their Country Music dance moves and family friendly entertainment, so we knew they would be the perfect group to lead participants in the World’s Largest Two-Step!”
“We are honored to be included in this record breaking attempt,” said Sharon Toups, Director of the Wranglers, “The kids are super excited and can’t wait to help.” To break the record, 2,000 dancers — that is 4,000 boots — will be needed. The cost to participate is $5.00 per person and all ages are invited to participate. With the Lil’ Wranglers leading this group, “No prior two-step experience is required” said Toups.
The fair is also hosting something for everyone with The Major League Eaters, a food truck competition, a Pinterest Fair and Trader’s Market, a Car Show and Bike Show, and a BBQ Cook Off and Pie Contest with “enough chili and Frito Pie for everyone,” said Caronna. The Lil’ and Elite Wranglers as well as other Brazos Valley Dance Groups will also be performing as entertainment at the event, and the Wranglers have scheduled a Free Country & Western Dance Lesson for anyone who wants to give western swing a try.
“We are asking for family and friends to come out for a Saturday of fun, and help us break this world record!” said Toups. “We really need the public’s participation to make this a Brazos Valley success!” You can sign up for the event at https://sotfair.com/world-
