Looking for something fun to do this Fourth of July in the Research Valley?

Here are 6 ideas put together by the Research Valley Press editorial team:

1. Brazos County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4692 will be hosting a fundraiser BBQ at $8 a plate. There will be face painting for the kids, games, activities, and Turkey Shoot. Head over to 794 N. Harvey Mitchell Parkway, Bryan, Texas starting at 11:00 AM to help raise money for veterans. The fun lasts as long as the food does!

2. The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, located at 1000 George Bush Drive West, College Station, TX, is hosting its annual “I Love America” Fourth of July Celebration. The Library and Museum will have free admission all day long from 9:30 am until 8:15 pm. They will offer delicious concessions starting at 5:30 pm including Roasted Corn, Snow Cones, Ice Cream, Kettle Corn, Roasted Nuts, Slovacek’s Sausage, Coca-Cola Beverages, Water and Free Watermelon. There will be a Kid’s Zone with a bounce house, train rides, and a “selfie booth” for teens from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Musical entertainment includes a performance by Xchange at 6:00 pm and the Brazos Symphony Orchestra at 8:45 pm. Fireworks start at 9:00 pm!

3. The Brazos Heritage Society will have their annual Fourth of July Event from 9:30 am to noon at Heritage Park, 600 S Hutchins St, in Bryan, TX this year. Completely free to the public, expect to enjoy a flag raising ceremony, children’s parade, patriotic music, refreshments as “old-fashioned prices,” and a silent auction.

4. Washington on the Brazos Park, located at 23400 Park Road 12, in Washington City, Texas, hosts an all day (10 am to 10 pm) extravaganza sponsored by H-E-B. Admission to the park and parking is free and shuttles will be offered to the public, taking them to different areas of the park from 1:00 to 10:00 pm. Admission will be charged to Independence Hall, Star of the Republic Museum, and Barrington Living History Farm (unlimited pass to all three locations is $9/adult or $27/family). A free music concert from Cody Bryan Band will go from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. State park rules apply and alcohol is prohibited.

5. Spirit Ice Skating Arena, located at 400 Holleman Drive East, along with the American Cancer Society are hosting an event from 12:00 pm until 6:30 pm. Enjoy ice skating for $4 per person or BBQ and ice skating for $10. Rumor has it that they may even screen a movie!
